As you may know, my church (New Hope Adventist Church) supports an orphanage in Haiti called Eden Garden. On January 13, 2010, I was supposed to be on a flight to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, with 30 other volunteers. Our mission was to conduct a medical clinic, well drilling project, and vacation bible school. Due to the earthquake, we did cancel our trip.
During the weeks following the aftermath, my feelings were conflicted. I was grateful to God for my safety, and yet felt bad for not being there to assist in some way. The good news is that the orphanage is fine, and the kids are safe.
My church’s committment to Haiti has not diminished. In fact, it has grown and taken new turns to serve Eden Garden and the surrounding community.
In the best of times, Haitians live on less than $2.00 a day. You have seen what this catastrophe has done to an already impoverished country. They need our help. To make a donation, please click on the donate button on the top right side of this page. To learn more visit the New Hope Haiti blog. One hundred percent of your contribution will be used to support the local orphanage and drilling project.
