Asking for Money
How do you communicate with your
members when you are in a financial need? Many parishioners only hear from their pastor when there is a need. I recommend writing to your congregation and active givers several times a year. At New Hope, we write a thank you letter to our first time givers each week. Every Monday, after the offering has been collected and counted, the church treasurer sends a letter from the Senior Pastor thanking the donor for their first time gift. This simple connection allows the donor to know that their gift, however large or small has been noticed. It also encourages them to give again. Here is an example of the letter we send.
Dear
I want to thank you for making a contribution to New Hope Adventist Church. It is people like you who help further the mission of the church.
As you may know, New Hope is committed to making an irresistible influence in our community. Your financial contribution not only helps pay for things like the electricity and maintenance of the church, but also the children’s ministry, pathfinder, outreach, and worship ministries.
I want to encourage you to become a regular giver to New Hope Adventist Church. By supporting our local church budget, you are helping to further the cause of Jesus!
Enclosed is an online giving brochure that outlines how to make a contribution through the Internet? In addition, I am enclosing another brochure that tells you about New Hope Church and our values.
My deepest desire is to see you grow in Jesus. If you want to know God, I would encourage you to immediately join a small group bible study. There are numerous groups here at New Hope that you can join.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Pastor J. David Newman, D.Min.
Senior Pastor
