Does Your Church Offer Wi-Fi?

Posted on 24. Jun, 2010 by in Uncategorized

About 10 minutes before the church service was about to begin, I walked around the auditorium to greet visitors and members alike.  To my amazement, almost all of the early arrivers had their heads bowed.

Upon closer examination, I realized each of them had a mobile device in their hand.  They were reading, texting, playing games, studying the bible, Facebooking, and so on.

Coincidently, a few days later, someone posted on my church website, “Thank goodness for New Hope’s wi-fi.”

Does your church offer wi-fi for your guests?  Most people consider free wi-fi like a public telephone (remember those?).

Last week, Starbucks Corp. announced they would be offering free wi-fi at all of their U.S. based locations.  This is a huge move, and I believe will be extremely beneficial for the company.

Offering wi-fi capabilities for your church could be a powerful asset.

Once your Wi-fi is set up, here are some ways Churchtechy suggests you can utilize it.

**advertise free Wi-Fi in your coffee mornings / shop

**provide after school clubs offering free wi-fi

**allow church members to access the net via their smartphones, etc for free

**allow visiting speakers or business people access to the web without touching your own network

Sounds great. Are there any security concerns?

Hey thanks for the pingback and picking up some of my wi-fi suggestions.

I really appreciate that even if it has taken me over a year to say so – lol.
